Winning Streak Ends For Mystics

BOSTON, MA - It was an inevitable outcome. When two undefeated squads take the field, only one can remain undefeated. Unfortunately for the Mystics, it was Boston who took that honor. It was a grueling back and forth defensive match up between the top two teams in New England. The Mystics were able to shut down Boston's initial attack, but a penalty in range of the posts would give Boston first blood and an early lead. This would also be the only score of the first half. Late into the second half Boston let loose with a kick down field which was recovered for a try that would put the game out of reach for the Mystics. Mystic River finished the season with a 6-1 record and despite the loss, will enter the playoffs as the number one seed in New England.
Final Score: Mystics 0 - Boston RFC 8

Mystics Secure #1 NERFU Seed

PINE BANKS PARK - Mystic River came out of the gate firing on all cylinders with several tries scored in the first few minutes against an Albany side that never laid down. Again the Mystics displayed outstanding defense to hold Albany to only one try scored for 7 points. Final score 55-7 as the Mystics clinched the #1 NERFU seed for the 2007-08 division one playoffs.
The Mystic 2nd XV followed soon after, taking the pitch against the Albany 2nds comprised mostly of A side players due to lack of numbers. Albany was able to shut down the Mystic Bs in the first half, leading 12-0 at the halftime whistle. Down but not out, the Mystics rallied back in the second half. After several thwarted attempts by Albany, the Mystics were able to break through for two tries by Matty Wilson and Kyle Winter to level the game before the final whilstle. The Mystic Bs are 4-1-1 going into the final match against Boston next weekend.

Old Boys Draw Against Providence

PINE BANKS PARK - On a day which would see three action packed rugby matches take place at the Banks, the Mystic Old Boys took the field against the Providence Old Cocks. The Mystics were able to keep Providence on the defensive throughout much of the match, setting up some great rugby to show the younger generations that they still had the stuff. Tries by Stefan and Whitey would keep the Gray Gulls in the game, however the score would remain level at matches end. The Mystic Old Boys are undefeated this season with a record of 4-1-0.

Mystics Blank 'Hounds For Win No. 5

PINE BANKS PARK - As the battle for the top teams in New England intensifies, the Mystics showed no quarter as they put away the Boston Irish Wolfhounds (1-4) with a decisive victory in Malden. Constant, hammering pressure from forwards and backs kept the 'Hounds on their heels and the Mystics found themselves up 17-0 at the half. The second half proved no different as the Mystics kept up their relentlessness on both sides of tha ball, totally shutting down the opposition and touching down another five unanswered tries to secure another win.
Bouncing back from last weeks nail-biting loss, the Mystic 2nd XV were able to edge past a hungry Wolfhound side.
