Mystics Win New England 10s

ACTON, MA – The Mystic River Rugby Club won its 4th New England (Acton) 10s Championship in 5 years on Sunday behind an impressive display of skills by captain Dimitri Efthimiou, Adnan Kawuma and Mystic tournament MVP Karl Darragh. The Mystics defeated the Vandals 12-7 in the opening game of the day before getting heated up and defeating Seacoast Alumni 42-7 in pool play. In the Quarter Final, the Mystics demolished host Old Gold 57-5 and then defeated UConn 38-0 to set up a championship with Durham who are on tour from the UK and had previously defeated Mystic in the Middlesex 10s championship Friday night.

Given the opportunity for redemption, the Mystics rose to the occasion. Down 3-5 at the half on a nifty Karl Darragh drop goal, unselfish and inspired overall play led to two tries finished off by Nate Fox and the final  result of 15-5.
