D1 Earns a Atlantic Cup Victory While D2 Barbarians Slip

2016 v LifeThis past Saturday, the Division 1 Mystic River team hosted Life University for a Homecoming Atlantic Cup match. The Mystics avenged their 7-88 loss from 2015 by defeating Life 43-17 at Pine Banks Park. The Division 2 Mystic Barbarians slipped up again, losing their second match of the season 19-36 at Portland in a muddy and rainy game. The Barbarians now stand at 5-2 on the season.

Two Big Wins for Mystic River

This past Saturday, the Division 1 Mystic River team traveled to the Irish Cultural Centre for an ARP match against the Boston Irish Wolfhounds. The Division 1 side defeated the Hounds 36-16, improving their record to 4-2. Mystic’s Division 2 Barbarians also improved on their record by beating Providence at Pine Banks by a score of 42-10 and improved to 5-1 on the season. It was a rainy day but two strong wins shined some light on the late stages of the season for Mystic River.

ARP Wins Big at Boston, Division 2 Falters at Worcester

This past Saturday, both Mystic teams were on the road for league matches, while the Old Boys capped off their season against Boston. The Division 1 side defeated Boston RFC 87-0 in an ARP match, improving their record to 3-2. However, Mystic’s Division 2 Barbarians did not fare so well on the road against Worcester; the Barbarians lost 39-12, adding their first tally to the loss column, setting them at 4-1 so far this fall.

Mystic River Wins Big at Pine Banks

This past Saturday at Pine Banks Park, Mystic River Rugby Club came away with two lopsided victories. The first game of the day was between Mystic’s Division 2 Barbarians and Amoskeag RFC in a NERFU league match. The Barbarians came away victorious, winning the game 73-24. After the victory, Mystic River’s Division 1 side hosted its first ever ARP match at Pine Banks and shut out Boston RFC, 86-0.
